Johnny Appleseed's Mutant Spawn . . . (By the way, check out a piece by Michael Uhl, former counterintelligence officer in Vietnam and later antiwar activist, at antiwar.com on the subject of Abu Ghraib. He even reminds us that President Nixon spoke of the perpetrators of the My Lai massacre as "a few bad apples." Over the years, it seems, we've planted enough mutant apple trees to make Johnny Appleseed toss in his grave.)
